Clip ‘n Climb Exeter wins prestigious Sports Venue of the Year Award 2017

Clip n Climb in Exeter wins the Favourite Sports Venue Category in the prestigious Primary Times Reader Star Awards 2017!

EACH year the interest in the Primary Times Reader Star Awards continues to grow at an unprecedented rate.  Over the last couple of months, the highest recorded number of Primary Times readers voted for their favourite family friendly places and people in the area, in a specially designed online survey.

The awards are distinctive in nature, due to their authenticity. They are chosen, organically, by the readers of Primary Times, namely local families with primary school aged children.

Local families were informed of the questionnaire in Primary Times, a family friendly magazine that is delivered to primary schools across Devon. With a distribution of 59,000 copies the magazine reaches over 300 primary schools in the county. Parents of children aged 4 to 11 across Devon cast their nominations in an online survey on the Primary Times website –

Winning an award is quite an accolade and many award winners display their certificates proudly at their venues and on their promotional material.

There were 8 different categories asking readers for their favourite: family attraction; family eating place; indoor play or activity centre; outdoor activity centre; museum or historical attraction; sports venue; party venue or entertainer; theatre or arts centre.

One particularly sought-after category was that of favourite Sports Venue and it was certainly interesting to read the broad spectrum of answers. This year, this category climbed to great heights with Clip ‘n Climb in Exeter acquiring the most votes

“We’re thrilled to be voted the 2017 Sports Venue of the Year Award and wish to thank your readers and their families for their continued support for Clip ‘n Climb Exeter: it’s our customers that make the centre what it is!  This year we’ve invested in a number of new elements at Clip ‘n Climb, updated our roped climbing at The Quay and relaunched our café and food menu in order to ensure that we continue to provide young people and their families with the most exciting and welcoming sports activity centre in the area!” said Damian Johnson, Managing Director The Quay Climbing Centre.

Linda Edwards, Publishing Editor at Primary Times said: “We are thrilled with the extraordinary response to this year’s Reader Star Award survey and we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the readers who took part. The results are sure to help other local families decide what to do and where to go. Each individual category winner deserves worthy recognition, as they are clearly offering something that our readers want.”
